SCHOLARSHIP

INFORMATION

The Negro Academic Scholarship Fund (NASF) is dedicated to providing financial assistance to other minority students in the Palm Springs area and beyond. Our scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1000, are awarded based on a student’s financial need, academic stability, and college potential. We prioritize students from low-income communities and aim to support those who may face challenges in affording a college education.

Our co-founders, Mrs. Jimmie Roberts, Essielene Rougely, and Rosie Lee Mayfield, alongside other instrumental founding members, worked closely with the Palm Springs High School Principal, High School senior Richard Coltrell and counselors Moya Henderson and Ann Boukidis to establish the criteria for selecting scholarship recipients. Through their tireless efforts, they built the core foundation of what NASF stands for today.

For 53 years, NASF has been honored to aid numerous students in accomplishing their academic aspirations. It is our belief that education is a fundamental right for all students, and we remain steadfast in our mission of supporting the next generation in realizing their potential through higher education.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

Donate to the fund:

The Negro Academic Scholarship Fund relies on the generosity of individuals, families, and businesses in the community to sustain its mission of providing financial assistance to students. Your contributions make it possible for us to provide scholarships to deserving students, helping them reach their educational goals and fulfilling their dreams. No donation is too small, and every contribution makes a difference. You can make a one-time gift or choose to make a recurring donation. Every dollar given to the NASF goes directly towards scholarships for  students.

Annual Banquet:

Join us in celebrating the achievements of our scholarship recipients and supporting the next generation of leaders at our annual banquet. This special event is an opportunity to come together as a community, learn more about the NASF, and make a difference in the lives of students. In addition to delicious food and drinks, the banquet features special guest speakers, live entertainment, and opportunities to meet and mingle with our scholarship recipients. By purchasing a ticket, you are directly supporting the education of our deserving students.
